How to Advertise Your Small Business on Social Media for Less Than $3.00

(Without Being Overly Intrusive and Obnoxious)

Despite all the hype about social media as an effective marketing tool, most small businesses do not take advantage of what it can provide. Why?

Well, it’s intimidating to start with, the costs can be out of reach, and are often difficult for the uninitiated to understand. Another reason is the learning curve associated with social media marketing, the time it takes to manage it, and the whole thing can feel, well, “kinda icky”.

Social media is the place we go to relax, take a momentary break from the stresses of our day, to see what’s happening in the world, and in the lives of our family and friends. It just seems like an invasion of your privacy and that of your friends to wade through posts or ads that hype your friend’s karate academy, or the friend of your friend’s bakery.

What if there were a way to build your small business’s brand and reputation without a lot of hassle? Without invading your friends’ (and their friends’) social media space by shouting from the rooftop how great your company is, and for just under $3? Would you take that risk, pay the $3 and give it a try? If so, read on. If not, thanks for reading this far, and good luck to you and your business.

Still with me? Thanks. Now, ask yourself, what do you look at most on social media? What do you spend the most time on? You don’t have to answer, I already know: you look at images. Memes, videos, and pictures. Articles? Sure, you read the headlines, and some, you skim, fewer still you even read all the way through. But, the vast majority of your time is spent scrolling through images. Most you pass by, some you stop to look at, and a very few, you share. Does this sound like you? Again, I know. I do it, too.

So, I will get to the point. (Yes, finally.) You, the entrepreneur, the small business owner, you have an asset in your hand, an advertising brand building tool that you carry with you always; it’s your phone. The camera on your phone is capable of taking a pretty good photo. You can take pictures, images to share on social media, which subtly build your business brand, once a day, once a week, once a month - it’s up to you.

You can take photos that share the life of your business with your social media network and that of your friends, and that sharing is advantageous to your business without being over the top intrusive, without being “icky”. You can take photos of your happy clients, of that big contract, of your company party, of your employees working, being crazy, working hard or whatever. You can celebrate your successes, share your funny moments, and even build comradery when you have that flat tire or really bad day.

These real moments are what everyone on social media wants to see; real people, in real life moments. And, it’s okay if your company logo is attached because it’s the subject matter that counts, your company identification is secondary and subtle, not intrusive, yet it is still there, keeping you top of mind and building brand awareness. That is “social media marketing savvy” in 2016. Got it?

Okay, so where does the $3 come in? Well, pictures of your business life are great, but they don’t do much to build your brand unless there is something to identify you: a logo, your phone number, something. That’s where the $3 comes in. For $2.99 on the App Store, you can purchase Branded-Pix, a simple to use, yet powerful, photo branding app that lets you put your logo, phone number or message on any photo in seconds. Then, when you share your business life, you are not being overly intrusive, not being over the top, you are hitting just the right note for social media, and advertising your business for free.

I could go on about how you just email your logo to yourself and load it into Branded-Pix or type in your business name and phone number, how you can change size, transparency, and placement, but you can see all of that once you decide to take the risk and buy Branded-Pix. Even if you only use it once or twice, it will earn its purchase price. See what you think. There’s even a 5 photo free trial. Have fun, and thanks for reading this blog. Even if you don’t buy Branded-Pix, I hope I’ve given you an idea or two you can use for your business.

You can see more at www.branded-pix.com or on Facebook and Instagram at Branded Pix. You can see how others are using Branded-Pix and upload your own Branded-Pix photos to our Facebook photo sharing group (free advertising for your company photos to over 1200 members!) at Branded Pix Photo Sharing Group.
